I had never tried slotted and drilled rotors before. I had to replace stock rotors due to severe warping. These new rotors do a great job of cleaning and staying cool. However, there is a very small amount of noise generated from the slotts in the disk when coming to a stop. Very happy with new rotors.

We'll discuss the drilled rotors here and move on to the slotted rotors on the next page. Drilled brake rotors, as the name implies, have holes drilled in them. Having a holes drilled into any of your brake parts may seem counterintuitive, especially the brake rotors -- after all, a rotor full of holes means that there's less surface area for.

Cross-drilled rotors are often used from the factory on high-end sports cars, which is why they look fast to many of us, even when installed on a parked car. Like slotted brake discs, cross-drilled brake rotors provide an escape for the gas and dust that build up between the brake pad and disc.

One of the reason why Mercedes are so smooth and quiet is that their vehicle has with anti humming rotors (harmonic balancing) rotors from the factory. 99% of the companies that sell cross drilled rotors does not have harmonic balancing technology it will create unwanted noise inside the cabin during braking.

I've been doing research on some aftermarket rotors over the past little while, as I plan on changing my rotors and pads soon.
I had finally come to a set combo in mind with custom slotted rotors and ebc redstuff pads.
However, off late I've been reading more and more mixed reviews about slotted rotors being noisy.
Some say that they're quiet unless braking hard, and some say that you constantly hear a clicking noise even while drilled and slotted rotors noise and not pressing the brakes.
Could everyone who has experience with slotted rotors chime in and tell me what kind of rotors they were running and if they made noise if any?
Well worth it though thanks for drilled and slotted rotors noise input, I def want to go with slotted but just wanted to make sure i wouldnt be getting any constant annoying noises.
Now I just have to decide about the type of slots I want, regular, dashed, or a cool looking over the top design like these brembo rotorsI'm getting the rotors custom slotted so I can do any design i want I had some on my S2000, yes they do make a sound when braking but its not noticeable, after my mechanic installed them he took me for a drive and he click the following article to point out the sound.
Well worth it though Drilled and slotted rotors noise your brakes are making noise while you are NOT braking, then something's broken in the brakes pun intended.
They are definitely a little noisier than the smooth stock discs, which is obvious due to the surface being less even.
However it is still rather discreet and I can't see how anyone would be bothered by this.
My new Performance Friction BBK however slotted discs has a turbine-like sound when I brake.
Quite noticeable, but I love it.
I always thought the elevated noise sounded most like a mild "brushing" sound.
I was running pads that were more aggressive than oem and almost always ran top down.
In our cars I doubt you'd even notice.
Been looking for some rotors here and there, but haven't found any that I like.
OP you getting yours through Adam's rotors?
Since you mention custom hah.
Anyone else recommend anywhere to buy rotors from?
ECS Tuning sent me drilled and slotted rotors noise links to EBC rotors I think and they were for a decent price.
Oh yea and also I found this for decent moneys nope, im going to get them from R1 Concepts, not many reviews on them but the few that ive seen on this forum and other car forums they seem to be positive.

I don't think those are cool looking designs, they were done that way for a reason lol.
Most rotors that I see are slotted for a specific reason to allow for more cooling.
Some have "wiper" slots which allow for better cooling.
Powerslot Rotors or StopTech are great.
As far as pads go I prefer Axxis Ultimates, best bang for the buck.
Never an issue with noise, as said above, if you hear noises while driving there is something wrong with your brakes.
Super Blue brake fluid is also a big plus.

New Cetric blank rotors arrived today, I installed them and all the noise went away. I think it was the weird dimpled teardrop shaped slots causing all the issues. Another note to add, do not order rotors from Alien Brakes(Quick Stop Pro company), they will blame everything but their product.

In either case, drilled and/or slotted brake rotors canโ€™t be turned (resurfaced). So when they warp, or as soon as you put on a new set of pads, you will have to replace the rotors. (Most people resurface the rotors at each replacement of the pads.) At least with OEM-type rotors you can resurface them once or twice before having to replace them.
